3. Audit and Valuation of Assets
Every SMSF must be audited once a year by an ASIC-approved SMSF auditor. For traditional funds, this is a fairly standard process where property valuations, share registries, and bank statements all line up neatly with the audit checklist.
Crypto doesn’t fit quite as cleanly. There’s no registry that says “XYZ Super Fund owns this wallet”, no broker contract notes for token swaps, and no paper statements for staking rewards. Auditors have to bridge that gap with whatever evidence trustees can provide.
